It will indeed react, Mike. Previous plant I was at back when I was new to the municipal side of things we had to "preoxidize" the raw incoming water in hopes of reducing disinfection byproducts. That failed as expected; it was a game to show we were taking the issue seriously while we awaited the powers that be to finally decide upon funding an aeration system in our reservoir. One day we tried upping the dose of peroxide slightly. We discovered what an excellent dechlorinator peroxide is! (Expensive one at that!) had to rechlorinate a 300k Gal clearwell to keep from busting CT. Lesson learned! Do you use the 50% strength?
