I do think, as mentioned by you that solar powered toilets can be a better alternative to septic tanks and may require less efforts to clean as compared to traditional pit/chemical toilets. This can be used for new toilets where there is space depending upon the scenerio.  But here we need to find a solution for the septage which is being collected from Septic Tanks.
